Services for Richard L. "Dick" Cook, 76-year-old Woodward resident, will be Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Garden Chapel of Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service. The Rev. Linda Sharpton will officiate. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery of Woodward.
Richard Lee Cook was born on Jan. 16, 1931 at Alamosa, Colo. to Nicholas A. and Eunice P. (Ballenger) Cook. Dick grew up in various places in Colorado and attended school at Craig and Dove Creek, where he graduated from high school. In 1948, Dick entered the United States Navy where he served until 1952.
On July 3, 1950 Dick was united in marriage to Jane Hope Rudd at Aztec, N. M. To this union three sons were born. The family resided in many states while Dick served in the military and later worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. They made their retirement home in Woodward in 1985. Dick enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling and especially having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren over for a visit. He had served as secretary-treasurer of the Woodward Men's Bowling Association.
Mr. Cook died Jan. 30, 2007 at Clinton, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Jane.
He is survived by three sons and their wives, Nick and Cheryl Cook and Rick and Billie Cook, all of Woodward and Mike and Carol Cook of Thornton, Colo.; one brother, Robert "Bob" Cook and wife June of Woodward; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
