Mrs. Georgia Tyson Cox was born January 26, 1872, in Glenwood, Iowa, and died at her home in Woodward, Okla., August 15, 1911. She was converted and united with the Baptist church at Russell, Iowa, when 12 years old. She was the daughter of Rev. T. K. Tyson who labored so heroically and well for many years as a missionary in Nebraska and here in Western Oklahoma. As the daughter of a pioneer missionary she learned some of the hardships and privations of a frontier preachers life. She was married to Mr. O. W. Cox in May, 1894, at Red Oak, Iowa. To them have been born 7 children of which 5 are still living. Ten years ago Mr. and Mrs. Cox removed with their children to Oklahoma and located near Quinlan. The country was then new and undeveloped. they cyclones that swept over the prairies, the newness of the country and such things brought many experiences common to frontier people. For three years they have resided in Woodward. Here Mrs. Cox has made a host of friends. She is loved by all who knew her. Her splendid qualities of mind and heart endeared her to all who were so fortunate as to be honored with her personal friendship. She was 39 years old.

Her father and mother, husband and five children, three brothers and four sisters still survive her to mourn their loss. All Woodward is bereaved. In her last illness she endured her sufferings with a patience and fortitude beautiful to behold. But her sufferings and trials are all over and she and her little babe are at rest with the Lord. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday, August 20, at 4 p.m. Rev. B. A. Loving officiated. Probably the largest assembly ever gathered at the Baptist church was in attendance to do honor to this good woman and show their love, sympathy, and respect to the bereaved. Her remains were laid to rest in the Woodward cemetery to await the morning of the resurrection.
