After 88 beautiful years, Rosella Davis departed this life at Crystal Wood Village in Woodward on Friday, March 28, 2008, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Randy Hodgson officiating. Interment will be in the May Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 31, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

June Rosella (Jordan) Davis was born on June 30, 1919 to Samuel Jordan and Elsie (Hartman) Jordan in Hillsdale, Oklahoma. Her family lived in several states and communities during her childhood. The family settled in the May, Oklahoma community where Rosella graduated from May High School with the class of 1937. On April 21, 1939, Rosella was united in marriage to Johnnie Davis at Clinton, Oklahoma. To that union, two children were born; one daughter, Janet, and one son, Jay Dee. They spent their lives farming and ranching in the May community. Rosella served as a member of the May Town Board for 34 years. While she lived in May she was a member of the May Methodist Church and was active in all church activities. When Rosella moved to Woodward in 2002, she transferred her church membership to the First United Methodist Church. During the 24 consecutive years that it took to see their two children graduate from high school, Rosella not only served as a class parent and sponsor, but she provided many pies, cakes, cookies and hours of support to school functions. She and Johnnie were basketball fans and they supported and attended games of the surrounding schools as long as their health permitted.

Because her family was such an important part of her life Rosella looked forward to and enjoyed being with her entire family, especially during special occasion days when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren could all be together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie, her parents, one sister, six brothers and her son-in-law, Larry Dean Latta.

Rosella leaves as her survivors, her daughter, Janet Latta of Woodward; her son Jay Dee Davis and wife Sharon of Hugoton, Kansas; her grandchildren, John E. Hughes and wife Renee; Janelle Casey; Brendon Davis and wife Cindy; Allen Clark; Kristie Gillespie and husband Chris; Melissa Lloyd and husband Justin; nine great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, special neighbors and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Trinity Hospice with the funeral home accepting the contributions
