Kevin Dee Diercks, son of M. F. "Jack" and Mary Lou (Jackson) Diercks, was born Jan. 15, 1963 at Woodward, Okla. He died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was 43 years of age.

Kevin began his elementary school years in Woodward and in 1974, the Diercks family moved to Seiling where Kevin attended school and graduated from high school with the class of 1982. Kevin enjoyed watching and participating in sports, especially football where he was an All-Stater and track where he was All-District. Kevin set records in the field events of discus throwing and shot put. Following graduation, he began working in the oil fields as a roughneck. He was united in marriage to Barbara Crowder, Sept. 16, 1988 at the home of his parents. They made their home in Seiling where they were raising their two children: Janelle Marie and Kuster Dee. In February 2002, Kevin went to work for the City of Seiling and the Seiling Public Works Authority as superintendent of the water department. Kevin attended the Seiling Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and playing golf but mostly he enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Diercks, his daughter Janelle and his son Kuster, all of the home; his mother, Mary Lou Diercks of Seiling, one sister, Jacquelyn Hardwick and husband David of Woodward, two brothers, Mike Diercks and wife Debbie of Garden City, Kan., and Kelly Diercks of Seiling. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Jack, Sept. 25, 1990 and his brother Pat, Dec. 6, 1997.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at the First Christian Church with pastors Shane Sander and Larry Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in the Brumfield Cemetery under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home. The casket will be open at the church from 9 a.m. until service time. Memorials can be made to the Diercks Children's Fund. The funeral home will serve as custodian of these funds at P. O. Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663.
