Wayne H. Duer, son of Willis Wilton and Sylvia Eloise (Tarr) Duer, was born Oct. 2, 1919 south of Lenora, Okla. in Dewey County. He died early Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at the Mooreland Heritage Manor. He was 87 years of age.

He was known to his family and friends as "Pinky" and he was raised and educated in the Lenora area. He graduated from Taloga High School in 1937. He entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II in England, North Africa, Sicily and Italy. In 1945 he was honorably discharged after serving over 37 months overseas and he returned to Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Ramona Charboneau on Dec. 23, 1947 at Canadian, Texas. For a brief time, they lived in Dewey County before moving to Missouri where he farmed for two years and their first child, Beverly, was born there. Later they returned to Oklahoma and moved to their farm northwest of Chester in Woodward County where they raised their six daughters. Pinky enjoyed coyote hunting, fishing and playing dominoes. He had been a member of the Seiling American Legion Post No. 69.

He is survived by six daughters: Beverly Cole and husband John of Woodward, Linda Walling and husband Jim and Janice Kornele and husband C. R., both of Mooreland, Becky Jarvis and husband Rick of Marshall, Mary Campbell of Howardwick, Texas and Debbie Sweeden of Tuttle; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vada Johnson of West Covina, Calif. and Winn McCray of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ramona on Jan. 26, 1980, one grandson, James Wayne "Jamie" Walling, six sisters and two brothers.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ewel Vaughan officiating. Interment will be in the Riley Cemetery under the direction of the Redinger Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the Riley Cemetery with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
