Ralph Buster Forbes, age 86, of Woodward, Okla., passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Duncan Regional Hospital in Duncan, Okla.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan (there is no visitation at the funeral home).

Buster, as he was always called, was born on April 22, 1921 in Stephens County, Okla. to John and Annie (Johns) Forbes. He married Grova Nell Brackney on Aug. 18, 1946 at Vernon, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2000.

Buster and Nell moved to Woodward in the late 1960's and in 1971 he opened Forbes Mud Company. Buster continued to reside there until May 2007.

During his lifetime Buster was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a past member of the Duncan Elks Lodge. Golf was a big part of his life and he was very proud of his "5" holes in one.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Hay and her husband Jim and one son, Ralph B. Forbes, Jr., all of Duncan, three grandchildren: Renee Rhodes and her husband Sean, Casey Condit and his wife Christie and Toby Condit, all of Duncan, five great-grandchildren: Erica Thomas of Roseburg, Oregon, Haley Kinsey of Duncan, Allyson and Tony Condit of Saginaw, Texas and Aspen Condit of Duncan, one great-great-grandchild Caleb Thomas of Roseburg and one sister, Faye Cox of Lodi, Calif.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Kenneth, J.P. and Dean Forbes.
