Funeral services for Walter Foster, 86-year-old Woodward resident, will be Monday, July 23, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the graveside in the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward. The Rev. Jeff Bradley will officiate. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service.

Walter Clinton Foster was born Nov. 15, 1920 in Woodward, Okla. to Henry and Ada (Hyuck) Foster. He grew up in the Woodward area and attended the Tangier School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and on Dec. 30, 1951, he was married to Darlene Faye Hopkins. They made their home in Woodward where Walter spent much of his life as an oilfield mechanic.

Walter and Darlene attended the Baptist Church. Fishing with his brother and friends was a big part of Walter's life. He also loved to work on race cars and attend car races. He had towed Don Jeter's race car all over the United States. But most of all, he loved get-togethers with his children, grandchildren and family.

Mr. Foster died July 20, 2007 at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Ruth; his parents and a brother, Dale.

He is survived by his wife Darlene of the home; a son and his wife Larry and Mona Foster, Woodward; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Dwayne Ford and Pat and Tom Melott, all of Woodward; six grandchildren, Clint Lewis, Martin Lewis, Carol Stocking, Cheryl Minor, Cody Foster and Maggie Foster and seven great-grandchildren and other relatives.
