Gregory Clay Ganes was born Dec. 28, 1954 in Woodward; he was the son of Clay and Thelma (Dotter) Ganes. After graduating from Woodward Public Schools in 1973, he attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business. In 1978, he married Teri Cheap, also of Woodward and they made their home in Woodward. They were blessed with two children, McKenna Leigh and Sean Christopher. Greg worked with his father in the real estate business until his father's death in 1995. He then opened his own real estate appraisal business in Woodward, the Greg Ganes Appraisal Services. He served on the Board of Directors of the Western Plains Youth and Family Services from 1995 to 2000. Greg worked diligently on building the ropes course at Boiling Springs.

Greg was an avid athlete. He loved rock climbing, biking, snow skiing, water skiing, volleyball, basketball, boating, as well as fishing and hunting. Climbing Colorado's Rocky Mountains with his friends was one of his favorite outdoor adventures. Greg was instrumental in establishing Northwest Oklahoma Soccer Association in Woodward. He worked tirelessly to develop the NOSA playing fields at Crystal Beach Park. He coached numerous soccer teams for his son and daughter, traveling across the tri-state area to provide them with the best possible soccer opportunities. Greg was also an assistant Woodward High School soccer coach and was selected as the West All-State Soccer coach in 1998. Greg also enjoyed rebuilding classic motorcycles and cars. From skydiving to fly fishing in Yellowstone, Greg's exuberance for life was always apparent.

Greg is survived by his children, McKenna Ganes of Edmond, Sean Ganes of Edmond and their mother Teri Ganes of Woodward; his sisters, Roxy Merklin and husband Tom; Debby Stine; his father and mother-in-law, Wilber and Zona Cheap all of Woodward; his cousins Candyce Kline and husband John; Denise Rose and husband Milton of Woodward, along with many other family members and close friends.
