Gerald Wilson Geer was born Feb. 18, 1914 near Alma in Ellis County, Texas to Major Andrew and Rosa Etta (Whiteley) Geer. He passed from this life on March 25, 2007 at the age of 93.

"Jerry" attended public school through the eighth grade. In December 1941 he began his 10-year career as a Merchant Marine, traveling to many parts of the world.

In 1961, Jerry married Wilma (Clark) Snider in Ontario, Calif. The family remained in Ontario until the summer of 1976. Jerry retired from the City of Ontario Street Department and moved to Camargo, Okla.

When not working, Jerry enjoyed spending his free time reading history and travel books. As long as their health permitted, he and Wilma would travel each year to Tipton, Calif., where Jerry would work as night watchman at the Melon Shed to help pay for their many travels.

After the move to Camargo, Jerry became a faithful member of the Leedey First Baptist Church. He became a Deacon in the church and also served as a Sunday School teacher. Jerry loved his church family. He was a devoted Christian, father and husband.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Wilma Geer; and numerous brothers and sisters. Those surviving Jerry are his sons Leo P. Snider of Bakersfield, Calif. and Larry Snider of Bullhead City, Ariz; by six grandchildren, Lori Bryant, Linda Love, Lance Snider, Lisa Newquest, Paula Beo and Mary Ka Hall, all of Southern California; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; by several nephews and nieces and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30, 2007 in Leedey First Baptist Church with interment following in Riley Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey, Okla.
