Woodward, Okla. — The funeral for Merle Dean Parker Glasgow, 87, of Alva, was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Church of God, Alva. The Rev. Bob Brown officiated. Burial was in the Garrison Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
She was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Hobart to Ocie Lela Wood and Isom Ewing Parker and died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Alva Share Medical Center.
She attended Hobart schools and graduated from Hobart High School. She attended Hills Business College, Oklahoma City. She worked for Fretwell Motor Co., Oklahoma City.
She married Robert E. Glasgow April 2, 1941, in Oklahoma City. They moved to Wichita, Kan., and later to Midwest City. In 1945, they moved to Dacoma, where she worked at Glasgow’s IGA Grocery, which they owned and operated until they moved to Alva in 1950. They spent 19 years in Woodward, returning to Alva in 1979. He died April 13, 1996
