Louis Grothe, 77-year-old Woodward resident, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Woodward Regional Hospital. Services will be Monday, March 19 , 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Woodward Free Will Baptist Church. Brother Allen Mabra will officiate. Interment will be in the Prairieview Cemetery, south of Woodward under the direction of Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service.

Louis Frank Grothe was born Aug. 30, 1929 in Vici, Okla. to Walter and Alice (Butler) Grothe. They lived in various places in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Colorado before moving to Homestead, Okla., where he attended school through his junior year of high school. On Sept. 8, 1948 he was married to Myrtle Louise Sanders in Canadian, Texas and to this union two daughters were born: Susan Louise and Loretta Loraine. In May of 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he completed his high school education. He served during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged in May 1954. In 1956 Louis and his family moved to Woodward where he worked as a mail carrier for 22 years.

Louis gave his heart to the Lord at Free Will Baptist Church in Webb, Okla. on Sept. 11, 1983. While there he served as a Sunday School superintendant for 13 years and taught children's church for one year. He loved his travels throughout the United States and Canada and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and working with wood. He was always helpful if a family member needed a repair job done.

Mr. Grothe died March 16, 2007 at Woodward Regional Hospital. He was 77 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold and one sister Clara Oliver.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, of the home; two daughters, Susan Parker and husband Evan, and Loretta Richardson all of Woodward; a sister Dorene Blumer of Seiling; one brother Aaron Grothe of Cleo Springs; three grandchildren, Keesha Doss and husband Dan, Kendra Parker and Louis Richardson; other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made the Woodward Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund.
