Billy Ray Houston, Sr. 66 year old Geary resident, left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on July 20, 2007. Funeral Services were held July 25, 2007, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Calumet, Okla., with interment in Geary, Okla.

Billy Ray was born Dec. 9, 1940, to Bill W. and Hilda Lucille (Montgomery) Houston. He grew up on the family farm west of Geary and attended Geary schools. In 1959, Bill moved with his parents to Tehachapi, Calif. In 1961, Bill returned to Oklahoma and made his home in Woodward. In 1974, he moved back to Geary to take over the family farm. Bill was a cowboy in every sense of the word. He loved the farm life, raising his family, crops, and livestock. He was an avid horse fan. Bill loved his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of their accomplishments. Bill celebrated his life, one day at a time, and encouraged his family to do the same.

Bill was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Calumet. He supported AA and sponsored many people giving unselfishly of his time and knowledge. Bill was a descendant of the Pottawattomi Tribe and proud of his Native American Heritage.

Bill had many friends, both young and old, from all walks of life, who respected, admired, and looked up to him. He will especially be missed at the Sooner and Geary Cafes' where he met with friends for coffee and a story or two.

Survivors include his wife, Delores of the home; daughters, Ann Maddox and husband Roy of Woodward; and Shelly McSperitt, Geary. Sons, Billy Houston and wife Tammy, Geary; and Bret Brower, Watonga. Eight grandchildren, Tim Owens, Spearman, Texas; Bryce and Katy Maddox, Woodward; Houston, Pacer, and Garth McSperitt, Audra Pratt, and Prescott Houston, Geary. One great grandchild, Gavin Owens, Spearman, Texas. Two brothers Doyle Houston and wife Dorothy, Enid, Okla.; and Duane Houston, Vacaville, Calif.

Many other family members and friends who were all as special to Bill, as he was to them.
