Obituary

Ernest Francis Kirkhart, 72, formerly of Gate, Okla., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital of Enid. He was born on Sept. 23, 1928, to Alsie and Leota (Allen) Kirkhart on the family farm near Gate.

Ernest was raised on the family farm and graduated from Rosston schools in 1946. He married Leona Mae Harmon on June 3, 1949, in The First Christian Church, Woodward, Okla., and to this union was born a daughter, Susan, and three sons, Randal, Alan and Troy. They made their home on the family farm which Ernest ran until he retired in July, 2000. Ernest and Leona then bought a house in Laverne in which they made their home.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Leona, of the home; daughter Susan Hunter and husband Terry of Fort Supply, Okla.; sons Randal Kirkhart and wife Ko-Ko of Waukomis, Okla; Alan Kirkhart of Austin, Texas; and Troy Kirkhart and wife Nena of Gate. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Rev. Diana Northcutt will officiate his funeral service on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the Laverne United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the ceremony in the Gate Cemetery. Arrangements are respectfully rendered by Seeger Funeral Service, Laverne.
