Woodward, Okla. ó Darlene E. Matheny, 66-year-old resident of Woodward, died Feb. 1, 2008 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Oklahoma City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at St. Peterís Catholic Church. Presiding will be Rev. Nallapatti Thomas and Deacon Phil Kenny. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Nichols-Zwanziger Funeral Home.

Darlene E. Shirley was born July 19, 1941 in Woodward, Okla., to Lottie P. (Carey) and Floyd Maurice Shirley. Darlene was a graduate of Woodwad High School; she also attended beauty college. In 1970, Darlene married Jim Matheny in Woodward. Darlene worked for Wal-Mart for 27 years. She was a member of St. Peterís Catholic Church, Woodward. Darlene enjoyed reading, listening to music and being with her son, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Darlene is survived by a son James Matheny, Woodward, two grandchildren, Kourtney and Katy Matheny, Woodward, an her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Shirley in1995 and Lottie in 1992, and a brother, Travis Shirley in 1998.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, make checks to the Woodward Senior Center, 1420 Downs Avenue, Woodward, OK 73801 or drop off your donation by the funeral home, 1322 8th Street, Woodward.
