Woodward, Okla. — Lori Merrill, 37 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at her residence. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Mary Davis will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.

Lori Camille Merrill was born November 8, 1971 at Landstuhl, Germany to Alvin Alexander and Billie Sue (Farris) Salge. Mr. Salge was serving in the United States Air Force, therefore, Lori grew up in several military bases in the U.S.A., Europe, Tehran, Iran and Oahu, Hawaii. She graduated from Arch Bishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California. Lori attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. To further her education, she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and received her Master’s in Business Administration degree.

In June of 1992 she was united in marriage to John T. Merrill at Huntsville, Alabama. To this union, one daughter Amanda Camille was born. Their first home was at Redstone Arsenal at Huntsville, while they both were serving in the United States Army. Lori was honorably discharged from the Army in October of 1992.

She later worked for Matt Construction as an on site executive director at Monticeto, California. After moving to Oklahoma, Lori was employed as a jailer for the Woodward County Sheriff’s department, Uncle Bill’s Lawn Service and as an accountant for Deep Water Chemical Company. Lori contracted Lyme’s disease after moving to Oklahoma and has suffered for the last six years from the effect of this disease.

She enjoyed running marathons, days at the beach and surfing. Lori often said "I like to run run in the hot hot sun".

She had attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in California and St. John’s Episcopal in Woodward.

Lori is survived by her daughter, Amanda Camille Merrill of Woodward ; her parents, Alvin and Sue Salge of Santa Ynez, California; one brother, Rex Salge of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her grandmother, Dixie Farris of Woodward; one aunt, Jane Davis of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and one uncle, Sherian Salge of Yorktown, Texas; their relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather
