Funeral service for Ruby Kelln Oblander, age 83 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Don Horton will officiate.

Ruby Arlene Oblander was born the daughter of Fred F. Meier and Martha Koch Meier on February 13, 1926, in Des Moines, New Mexico. She died on April 28, 2009, in Chickasha.

When Ruby was two years old, her family moved to Arnett, Oklahoma and in 1940 moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma, to make their home. She attended school both at Arnett and Shattuck. In January of 1946, she married Harry Edward Kelln, Sr.. They lived on the homeplace southwest of Shattuck. She enjoyed helping with the farming and being a homemaker. Ruby and Harry were blessed with two children, Harriett and Harry. In June of 1966, her husband died instantly of a heart attack. In December of 1966, Ruby moved to town and worked at the Newman Medical Center until 1976 when she developed a heart condition. In March of 1977, she moved to Yukon to be closer to her family. She worked at Hyde Drug and later at the First National Bank until retiring. In December of 1977, Ruby married Elmer Oblander in Yukon. They made their home in Yukon and attended the St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Bethany. In November of 1995, they moved to Chickasha and joined the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Ruby loved the outdoors, her yard, garden, flowers and trees. She also loved sewing especially making quilts for family and loved ones. Working was a joy for Ruby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry Kelln, Sr., and Elmer Oblander on August 18, 2004, four sisters, Hulda Batt, Esther Kraft, Emma Miller, and Ella Armstrong and three brothers, Ernest, Paul and Walter Meier.

Survivors include: Daughter and Husband: Harriett and Bob Wahler of Ft. Worth, Texas, Son and Wife: Harry and Shelba Kelln of Chickasha. Granddaughter: Kristi Wahler of Redmond, Washington, Granddaughter: Cheri Kelln of Dallas, Texas, Grandson: Nicholas Kelln of Oklahoma City, Granddaughter and husband: Heather and Ashley Weber of Grayslake, Illinois, Great Granddaughter: Channing Weber of Grayslake, Illinois. Great Granddaughter: Tatum Weber of Grayslake, Illinois, Sister and Husband: Alberta and Freddie Pshigoda of Perryton, Texas, Sister: Martha Tolley of Shattuck, Sister-in-law: Emogene Meier of Golden, Colorado, Many Other Family and Friends

Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Shattuck Memorial Cemetery in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Epworth United Methodist Church.
