Parsons, 87
Harlon Edgar Parsons, 87 year old Woodward resident, died today in the Woodward Nursing Center. Services are pending with Good Samaritan Funeral Service.
He is survived by two sons, Wesley Parsons, Woodward, and Merlyn Parsons, Enid; one sister, Daisy Deardorf, Benton City, WAsh.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services for Harlon Parsons, 87, Woodward, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Good Samaritan Funeral Service with the Rev. David Evans officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Harlon Edgar Parsons was born in Shelby County, Mo., Aug. 20, 1897. He moved with his parents as a child to western Kansas. In 1909 they moved to a farm seven miles northwest of Woodward where he worked on the farm and as a rancher until 1917. On Dec. 22, 1917 he was married to Martha May Hill. They lived on farms near Fort Supply and Mutual before making their home in Woodward in 1919. From 1942 until 1959 they traveled over much of the United States while he worked with a seismograph crew. He died Feb. 5 in Woodward Nursing Center. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1979.
Survivors are two sons, Wesley P. Parsons, Woodward, and Merlyn D. Parsons, Enid; one sister, Daisy Deardorf, Benton City, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
