Funeral services were held Jan. 28 in Buffalo First Baptist Church for William Earl (Bill) Phelps, 34, of Laverne. He died following an auto accident which occured five miles west of May, Friday, Jan. 25.

The Rev. Wesley Peterman, pastor of Laverne Assembly of God, and the Rev. Dennis Hooper, pastor of Buffalo First Baptist Church officated. Burial was in High Point cemetery under the direction of Seeger Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1951 at Shattuck. He grew up on the family farm near Selman and attended Selman schools until 1967. He graduated from Buffalo High School with the Class of 1970, then attended Southwestern Vo-Tech School. He was married to Ester Wilkerson on March 30, 1972.

Survivors are his wife, Mary, and sons, Billy and Charley, of Buffalo; his parents Jack and Mary Pehlps, Selman; two brothers, Jerry Max Phelps, Stillwater, and Wilbur Carl (Willie) Phelps of Dodge City; four sisters, Marlene Phelps, Buffalo; Arlene Bussinger, Woodward, Corene Selman, Selman, and Darlene Drew, Buffalo.
