Geneva L. Baker Royar, 98-year-old resident of Ft. Worth, Texas and former resident of Woodward, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 in Marietta, Okla. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 in the Elmwood Cemetery with Melvin Rittenhouse officiating. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Geneva Lucile Hastings was born on March 22, 1909 in Kansas City, Mo.; she was the daughter of James T. Hastings and Sarah L. (Leighton) Hastings. She grew up on the Hastings ranch north of Woodward and attended Woodward Public Schools, Sullins College and Phillips University. On June 1, 1932, Geneva was married to W. Earl Baker. They lived in Woodward for 40 years before moving to Oklahoma City. Earl passed away on Oct. 27, 1984. On April 20, 1988, she married M. R. "Bob"Royar and they lived in Fort Worth, Texas. Her strength for 98 years came from her family and many friends.

She is survived by her son James R. Baker and wife Doris of Bridgewater, New Jersey; one daughter JoAnn Casey and husband J. D. of Burneyville, Okla.; Bob's sons, Kenneth Royar and wife Gail of Iowa City, Iowa; Robert Royar and wife Mary of Alma, Texas; Bob‚s daughter Ginger Lawhon and husband Mack of Ft. Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Robert Baker, Brian Casey and Linda Roe and six great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation with the funeral home accepting the donations.
