Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church of theis city for Allen Lindsey Scates, who died at the home of his son. R. F. Scates in this city on January 22, 1931. Services were conducted by Rev. Morgan and Rev. Botts.

Mr. Scates was born on June 19, 1866, at Atlanta, Illinois. He was married in 1887 to Adella M. Seaton. He was a member of the Baptist church, and had lived in this community for the past thirty years.

He leaves to mourn his loss the following children; R. F., L. A., and Wm. A. Scates of this city; C. L. Scates of Richmond; C. I. Scates of Hutchinson, Kansas; Mrs. Nellie Harbin of Mutual; and Mrs. Ruby Stocking of Woodward.
