Ruby Mae Stocking

Ruby Mae Stocking, 94 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, in the Grace Living Center. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery with Dr. Russell Duck officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

Ruby Mae (Scates) Stocking was born Dec. 21, 1905, to Allen W. and Adelia (Seaton) Scates on the family homestead seven miles south of Woodward. Ruby attended the Indian Creek schools. She remained on the family farm helping to run it. She was married to Leonard G. Stocking on May 23, 1924, in Woodard and made their home there. To this union five children were born, Ruby, Leonard, Robert Lee, Martha, and Mary Jo. Ruby stayed at home and raised her children. Leonard preceded her in death in August of 1959. Ruby continued to live in Woodward. She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and was very much a part of their lives.

She is survived by her son, Leonard Stocking and wife Lucille of Woodward; three daughters, Ruby Turner and husband Bob and Martha Martin and husband Cliff, both of Eufaula, Mary Jo Wilson and husband Jim of Woodward; one daughter-in-law, Melvina Stocking of Pampa, Texas; twenty one grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Robert Lee, five brothers and one sister.
