Martha Alice Swank, daughter of William and Elizabeth Swank, was born near Unionville, Appanoose county, Iowa, October 11, 1859 and died at the home of her daughter, 1704 7th street, Woodward, Okla., Aug. 8, 1847, being 87 years, nine months and 27 days of age.
She came to Oklahoma in March of 1901, locating on a farm near Mutual where she resided until nine years ago, moving to Woodward.
She held her membership in the Free Methodist Church.
March 8, 1883 she was united in marriage with Alonzo Strunk at Unionville, Iowa, and to this union six children were born. Two sons preceded her in death, Oakley, Feb. 20, 1920 and Floyd, Nov. 25, 1946. Her husband died March 13, 1911.
Mrs. Strunk led an active life, interested in the affairs of her community as well as the duties of her home and with her family. In her late years she kept herself busy with her quilts and maintained a cheerful attitude toward life.
Surviving are a son, Ernest of Klamath Falls, Ore., three daughters, Mrs. Violet Allison, Vici, Okla., Mrs. Anna Burhman, Woodward, with who she made her home and Mrs. Olga Buhrman, Sharon, Okla., 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 10, 1947 at 6 o'clock at the Armstrong Funeral Home. Burial was in the Moscow Cemetery southeast of Woodward.
