Vera Mitch Tyson, 87 year old longtime Woodward, Oklahoma resident, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 in the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Booker, Texas. Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery with the Reverend Paul Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Billings Funeral Home of Woodward.

Vera Mitch Tyson was born November 23, 1912 on the family farm in Tangier to Ed and Minnie (Dobbs) Crain. She attended Tangier schools through her sophomore year. Vera was married to Floyd Lee Mitch on July 30, 1930 in Fargo. To this union two daughters were born, Betty in 1931and Marlene in 1936. They moved to a farm north of Fargo where they reared their family and moved into Woodward in 1957. Floyd preceded her in death in 1965. Vera was a wonderful woman, mother and wife and devoted her life to her family. She would do without so that her family did not. On October 29, 1969 Vera was married to Buck Tyson in Trinidad, Colorado. Buck died in 1990 and she continued living in Woodward until January 2000 when she made her home in Booker, Texas.

Vera was a member of the Fargo, Oklahoma First Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty VanLandingham and husband Crockett of Woodward, Marlene Meier and husband Alex of Darrouzett, Texas; six grandchildren, Randy Lahann and wife Sandy of Woodward, Lora Carter and husband Rick of Houston, Texas, Brian Lahann of Fairview, Carla Cossman and husband Nick of Jetmore, Kansas, Lana Lindhorst and husband Alan of Wamageo, Kansas, Darinda Gerber and husband Richard of Garden City, Kansas; fifteen great-grandchildren.
