Rites Set For Arley Wells

Funeral services for Arley E. Wells, 90 year old retired pioneer farmer and a resident of 1322 22nd st. Woodward will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Church.The Rev. D. C. Welsh, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial under the direction of Stecher Mortuary will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Arley E. Wells, was born in Jewell county, Kans., on August 3, 1880, and died early Monday morning in a local nursing home following a short illness. In 1900 he moved from Missouri to a homestead eight miles southwest of Woodward where he lived for 67 years. On January 11, 1904, he was married to Pearl Edna Hall in Woodward and she preceded him in death April 7, 1962. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors are two sons; The Rev. Clyde Wells, Laurel, Neb.; and Harold Wells, Woodward; two daughters, Mrs. Olene Sober, Oklahoma City and Mrs Jaunita Staats, Liberal, Kans., 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Transcribers Note: Woodward County Marriage Records indicate in book 2, page 488, they were married 11 Jan 1905.
