Comanche County, Oklahoma
Created in 1901 from Kiowa, Comanche, Apache lands. Named for the Indian tribe, a corrruption of the Spnish "Camanche" possibly derived from Camino Ancho (a broad road) referring to the great trail over which the Comanches raided from the Great Plains into the country south of the Rio Grand.
Clerk of Courts has marriage, divorce, probate, civil court, land records from 1901.
