Now that you've decided to adopt a county, here are some guidelines and requirements for your Oklahoma County page.
|Each county page MUST have one of the official Oklahoma logos somewhere on the page with a link back to the OK State Page. |
The link is http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ok/state You can download either of these logos to your server.
|You must have at least a text link back to the AHGP (American History & Genealogy Project) Site. A logo is preferred||The link to ALHN home page is http:/www.ahgp.org. You may choose any of their logos|
|You must have at least a text link back to the ALHN (American Local History Network) Site. A logo is preferred||The link to ALHN home page is http:/www.alhn.org. You may choose any of their logos|
It is recommended that your site has a query board. You can set this up any way you want. The easiest way to handle queries is using a guestbook or message board. This allows the researcher to post their query and it is automatically posted.
All information on your site must be FREE to researchers. Everything else is optional, but recommended. On the sample page (link at bottom of this page) you will find suggested topics for your site. Keep in mind that however you choose to set up your site, is entirely up to you. If you need help finding backgrounds & graphics for your site, just ask. This is just a sample!
Your site must contain information pertaining to the history and/or genealogy of the county you have adopted. It MUST be a child safe site.
If you have any questions, please contact
You are responsible for obtaining your own web space for your pages. If you need help with that, let me know. If you are unable to maintain a county web site yourself, but want to provide county information, contact me. I will assist you in anyway possible in order to put the information online.
There is an e-mail list available for webmasters who maintain an AHGP/ALHN web site. This is a friendly list and everyone is willing to help you with your pages if you need it. Be aware, we also discuss other topics not related to genalogy or web pages. We are like a big family who offer support (technical, moral, etc) without bashing anyone. Topics have been about everything from the weather to a new baby/grandbaby, surgery, death or illness in our families. If you would be interested in joining our "family" let me know & I will get you signed up. This is not a requirement.
