May 2, 1933
Sayre, Oklahoma
May 2 1933-For the first time in the memory of courthouse officials, a man has been arrested for stealing a horse. Denzil William Brim, who lives near Reed, was arrested Monday charged with stealing and selling a horse belonging to V. I. Nason, who lives ten miles southwest of Sayre. He was to be arraigned in county court today.

Sheriff W. T. Velvin said that Brim attended the rodeo at Elk City Sunday. At the conclusion of the rodeo he started home on foot. Unable to catch a ride Velvin said that Brim looked into each garage he passed for a car. After traveling about five mile he saw a horse, which he caught and preceded to ride home. Rather reluctantly he sold the horse, it is charged, to a Mr. Barton of Reed when offered $27.50 for it. At first he is said to have told the prospective buyer that the horse was not for sale.

The owner located the hose at the Trades Day held at Mangum Monday when the horse was offered for sale at the auction. Through Mr. Barton, Brim was located and brought to Sayre to face charges.
