Enid, O. T., Aug. 23—A quarrel which started in a down town gambling house yesterday terminated in the killing of Bob Burnett an ex-bartender for Tony Faust’s saloon of this place, by Fred S. Eggerman, better known as “Jumbo” at the latter’s home on East Maple street near the Rock Island tracks. Burnett, it is alleged, followed “Jumbo” home with the intention of causing trouble, and was told several times that it was time to do to bed as it was then nearly 3 a.m., but he persisted in keeping up the quarrel and finally reached for his gun firing one hot without effect. “Jumbo” returned the shot, which took effect in Burnett’s heart. Burnett ran about fifty yards and dropped dead. He was formerly city marshal of Hobart, O. T, and has two or three killings to his credit. “Jumbo” is now in jail awaiting his examination.
