A man appeared on our streets Monday afternoon and about 3 oclock had Auctioneer Davis offer for sale the horse he was riding. It was bid on by C. E. Amos, for $67, the money was paid over the supposed owner disappeared. About 6 oclock that evening a man named C. O. Davis, residing about 40 miles from here in the Cheyenne country made his appearance and claimed the horse as the property of his sister who makes her home with him. He proved his property by good witnesses here in town and Mr. Amos delivered the horse to him, claiming $25 reward offered by Mr. Davis for the recovery of the horse. He was allowed $20, which leaves him $47 yet out of pocket. Mr. Davis offers $50 for the recovery of the thief, which Mr. Amos supplements with $25 more making $75 now offered for the thief. No trace of his whereabouts has been found.
