U. S. Marshal Nix has sent a circular letter to all deputies urging them to a careful performance of their duties. They are not to take cognizance of trivial cases, and are warned that a continued use of intoxicants to excess will be cause for removal. When parties are found who attempt to pass themselves off as deputies without authority they should be arrested. He warns deputies against the habit of contracting small debts without paying them, and that when it is necessary to go in debt, the account should be paid as soon as that trip is completed. Mr. Nix is determined to raise the deputy marshal service in the eyes of the people, and should be sustained in his efforts.
