Sentenced To Imprisonment For Life Submitted by: Mollie Stehno |

The killing of William Fowler last fall by William Holt, a tenant of Fowler’s is so well known to our readers that we scarcely need to recite the circumstances again in the Clipper.
The case finally came up for trial at this term of court and occupied about ten days. A large number of witnesses were examined on both sides. The prosecution was vigorously and able conducted by County Attorney J. B. Moffett and J. c. Roberts, while Attorneys Jones and Cunningham made an able defense for their client. Those who heard the evidence say that Holt’s own testimony was very damaging to him. The jury reached a verdict in about eight hours. A conviction was expected by most of those acquainted with the case but the sentence was stronger than was generally expected.
The three sentences for life against murderers in the district court of Kingfisher County the past six months ought to have and we believe will have a salutary effect on many men who want to resort to the gun as a means of settling disputers.
It is a warning to the outside world, also, not to come to Kingfisher County to do their killing.
