| President McKinley has pardoned Clyde Mattox. Mattox was first sentenced to hang for the killing of a Negro in Oklahoma City in the early days, but President Cleveland commuted his sentence to life imprisonment. His complete pardon is due to the efforts of his mother, who has always been untiring and unceasing in his behalf. |
