Dennison, Texas--From George Haines, who came in from the Indian country this morning, it was learned that a shooting took place fourteen miles east of Colbert station early this morning between Newton Hank and Frank Jarvis.
It seems that Jarvis had accused Hank of stealing a steer and Hank, on hearing of the charge, took his Winchester and went direct to the Jarvis home, about six miles distant and called young Jarvis out of the house. Jarvis, when asked about the charge, stated that he had made it and could prove it, whereupon Hank raised his Winchester and fired two shots, both taking effect in the abdomen, from which he died in about thirty minutes. Hank is as yet at large, having fled to the mountains for protection.
