Excerpts from Annual Report

Extracted from the Annual Report of E. P. Burlingame, Adjutant General of Oklahoma Territory for the year 1902, provided to T. B. Ferguson, Governor, Oklahoma Territory, December 31, 1902.
The Annual Encampment was held at Kingfisher August 14 to 21, with five hundred thirty-four officers and men in attendance.
On the 25th of July at Pawnee, and on the 7th of August at Guthrie, the militia companies were assaulted upon the streets while engaged in drilling. Co E. at Pawnee was assaulted by one W. P. Patton with a revolver. Clyde Byers of Co A at Guthrie was assaulted by Lou N. Beedles with a whip, while the company was marching east on Oklahoma Avenue.
