Ralph D. Smith, G. M. 1-C

Has been in several major battles, including the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Solomons, the Coral Seas with the Australian navy at Sydney and was on the Chicago, when it was sunk.

Smith, a gunner's mate in the navy is now stationed somewhere in the south Pacific.

He attended Meridian highschool and A. and M. College, Stillwater and is 22 years of age.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Smith live at Meridian, where he was engaged in farming before going into the service October 3, 1939.
