Elmer Carmichael, BM/2C, United States Coast Guard. This picture was taken several days after D-Day, Omaha beach in Normandy at a survivors camp in Plymouth, England. The British Army battle jacket being worn in this picture was issued to each survivor and now has been donated to the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, LA, along with pictures of the L.C.I.(L) #85 being sunk on D-Day. Later, each survivor was issued a red cross survivors kit containing black pin-striped trousers, blue slip over sweater and sneakers.
