La Neta Jean (Gray) BUCHANAN


Gary J. Buchanan, 34, formerly of La Grande, died Sunday in Hermiston.

Mr. Buchanan was born Sept. 25, 1953, to Harry and Laneta (Gray) Buchanan of La Grande. He lived in La Grande until moving to Echo last summer to work on the Mosgrove Ranch. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 259 of La Grande.

He is survived by sons, Gary Dean and Jason, both of Ontario; brothers, Terry Ray Buchanan of Chatteroy, Wash., and Jack Thomas Buchanan of Seattle; sister Carol Kay Baycroft of Spokane; grandmother, Verda Gray of La Grande; aunts and uncles, Reba and Warren Laird and Mava McFerran, all of La Grande, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel, Seventh Street at O Avenue, with the Rev. James. Wenger-Monroe of the La Grande United Methodist Church officiating. Private interment will be held later.

Those who wish may make donations to the charity of their choice in care of Daniels Chapel, 1502 Seventh St.

Harry T. Buchanan

Harry Thomas Buchanan, of Kingsview Manor Apartments, died Tuesday, July 22 at his home. He was a purchasing agent for Boise Cascade Corp. He was 59.

Mr. Buchanan was born Sept. 19, 1920 at Durango, Colo., the son of Ted and Dolly (Tovrea) Edwards. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Eagles, Elks and V. F. W.

Survivors include his sons, Jack of La Grande; Gary, of Elgin; Terry, of Seattle; daughter, Carol Baycroft, of Spokane; brother Doug, of Coos Bay; five grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife LaNeta Jean Buchanan, on May 9, 1975.

Services are scheduled Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Island City Cemetery. Vault interment will follow. Funeral services are under the direction of Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel.

La Neta Jean (Gray) Buchanan

LaNeta Buchanan, 50, 205 20th St., died Friday at her home.

Mrs. Buchanan was born on March 16, 1925, at Cove, the daughter of Joseph T. and Verda (Holmes) Gray. On March 19, 1942, she married Harry Thomas Buchanan at Wieser, Idaho. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors beside her husband include: a daughter, Carol K. Peterson of Spokane, Wash., three sons, Gary J. Buchanan of the U. S. Army in Colorado, Terrel Ray Buchanan and Jackie Thomas, both of Elgin; two grandchildren; mother Verda Gray of La Grande; two sisters, Reba Laird of La Grande and Maiva McPherren of Pendleton; and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul O. Jewell officiating. Private interment will be at the Island City Cemetery.
