Beatrice A. Curteman, 81, of Baker, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Baker.
Her funeral was today at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel, La Grande, with the Rev. James Wenger-Monroe officiating. Interment followed at the Grandview Cemetery, La Grande.
Mrs. Curteman was born July 22, 1906 in Roulette, PA., to Otto and Bessie Touscher Hunter. She was reared in Wallowa County area and attended and graduated from Enterprise High School. From Wallowa County she moved to Island City and then on to Union and Cove, where her family ranched.
She married Carl Curteman in La Grande on Oct. 19, 1929. He died in 1970.
She had lived in Baker with her daughter and son-in-law for the past nine years.
She was a member of the Cove Methodist Church, the Cherry Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Cove Farm Bureau.
She enjoyed making crafts and cards.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Norma Lee and Bill Childers of Baker; stepchildren, Marjorie Curteman of Boise, and William H. Curteman of West Germany; grandchildren, Vicki Fite of Hermiston, and John Childers of Klamath Falls; great-grandchildren, Michelle and Danielle Fite, both of Hermiston and Shawn, Beau and Alicia Childers, all of Grants Pass; and four nieces.
A brother and sister died, earlier.
Friends may contribute in her memory to the American Heart Association or to a charity of their choice. That may be done through Gray's West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave.
Mr. Carl Curteman, 77, died July 30 in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Dempsey's Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Mr. Curteman was born in Rich Hill, Missouri, April 8, 1893. He has been a resident of the Cove area since 1948. He was a member of the Cove Lodge No. 91 AF & AM, Cherry Chapter No. 177, Order of Eastern Star and the Cove Sportsman's Club.
He leaves his wife, Beatrice of Cove; two daughters; Mrs. Norma Lee (William) Childers of Baker and Miss Marjory Curteman of Pocatello; one son, William H. Curteman, Heidelberg, Germany; one brother, Ray Curteman of Chester, Calif., six grandchildren and one great grandson.
Services and arrangements are entrusted to the care of Dempsey's Funeral Chapel.
Charles W. Curteman, age 63, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon while at work at the Union county shops on Z avenue. Death was caused by heart disease.
He is survived by his widow and two sons, Carl and Ray of La Grande, (a son Teddy passed away in July 1921); three daughters Mrs. Nellie Anderson, Mrs. Bessie Newberg and Mrs. Ethel Brown, all of La Grande; a sister, Mrs. Katie Millering, of La Grande, and by 12 grandchildren.
Chas. W. Curteman was born in Harwood, Missouri May 12, 1870. He was united in marriage to Erie Maude Halton in Kansas City, Missouri Nov. 19, 1890. He was a member of the Baptist church and had been a resident of La Grande for the past 27 years.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Walkers Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. B. M. Goodwin, pastor of the Baptist church in charge of the services. Burial will be in the family plot in I. O. O. F. cemetery.
