Alfred Hiatt, of 1807 "V" Ave., died Saturday, March 1 at Grande Ronde Hospital. Mr. Hiatt was a retired truck driver for Union county. He was 75.
Mr. Hiatt was born May 12, 1904, at Pinto, Utah, the son of Frank and Emma (Platt) Hiatt. He moved to La Grande, on January 25, 1925. On November 24, 1928 he was married to Alice Hoak at La Grande.
Mr. Hiatt was a member of the Third Ward of the La Grande Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Knights of Pythias; AARPs and Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife of La Grande; son, Dale of Ontario; brother, Lee of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Wanda Potter, of Redding Calif.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Services are scheduled Tuesday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel with Bishop H. Eugene McKinney officiating. Vault interment and dedication of the grave will follow at the Island City Cemetery.

Arleta Lucille Hiatt, 86, of Kennewick died Monday, April 17, 1995, at Life Care Center of Kennewick.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Summerville Cemetery. Viewing will precede the service at 2 p.m. in the chapel at the cemetery. Services are under the direction of Mueller's Chapel of the Falls of Kennewick.
Mrs. Hiatt was born Nov. 12, 1910, at Summerville and spent most of her life in La Grande. She attended Island City School and La Grande Catholic Academy and graduated from La Grande High School.
She married Merlin D. Hiatt on March 9, 1932, in La Grande. She spent the last three years of her life with her son Eldon, and his wife, Linda, of Burbank, Wash. She was a member the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie No. 259 of La Grande.
Survivors include her husband, Merlin D. Hiatt, La Grande; daughter, Merlarae Bonner, Portland; sons, Alvin Hiatt of La Grande, Tom Hiatt of Baker City and Eldon Hiatt of Burbank, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Her son Jerry Hiatt; sisters May Colt and Ada Goss; and brother Brook Colt died earlier.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie No. 259, 1212 Jefferson Ave., La Grande 97850.

Merlin Danberg Hiatt, 86, of La Grande, died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at Grande Ronde Hospital.
A graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the Summerville Cemetery. Elmer L. Perry, patriarch of the La Grande Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and friend of the family, will preside. Daniels Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hiatt was born in La Grande on Sept. 14, 1910, the youngest of 13 children of Samuel and Fredricka Johanna Elizabeth Danberg Hiatt. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
His father was of early Utah Mormon heritage. His mother was born in Aarus, Denmark, and immigrated to the Salt Lake Valley in the early 1880s. Their children were born in Utah and Idaho enroute to Oregon, where the Hiatts' last two children were born.
Mr. Hiatt received his education in La Grande schools, where he excelled in music, sports and scholastic challenges, family members said.
An avid sportsman, Mr. Hiatt enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a longtime member of the fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 259. He was a fireman and engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1942 until his medical retirement in 1980, retaining a membership in the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen.
He married Arleta Lucile Colt, who died on April 17, 1995. His eight brothers and four sisters also died earlier. A son, Jerry, died in 1962, and a granddaughter, Judy Hiatt, died in November 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Merlarae Bonner of Portland; sons, Tom Hiatt of Baker City, Eldon Hiatt of Pasco, Wash., and Alvin Hiatt of La Grande; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Memorials may be made to the Union County Home Health Hospice in care of Daniels Chapel, 1502 Seventh St., La Grande 97850.
