HENRY PEARSON
Pioneer Citizen Passes Away Thursday Morning

Henry Pearson, one of the pioneers of this section, passed away Thursday morning at 5:30 from Bright's disease from which he had been suffering for some time. He was taken with convulsions at his home Monday night and on Tuesday he was brought to town and everything possible done for him but he passed away Thursday morning.

Henry Pearson was born in Clarkston County, Missouri, December 3rd, 1859 and died January 29, 1920, at the age of sixty years, one month and twenty-six days. He spent his early years in Missouri, coming to North Powder in his early manhood where he has since made his home. He leaves to mourn his loss, a mother, wife, five sons, a daughter, fourteen grandchildren and three brothers.

Upright in business, strictly honest, generous to his friends, lienient with his foes, he strove faithfully to do unto others that he wished others to do unto him. An anchor of strength and filial love in the declining years of his parents, a deep sympathy toward those in trouble or affliction, his absence leaves a void too deep for words.

"No further seek his merits to disclose,
Nor draw his frailties from their dread abode;
There they alike in trembling hope repose,

Obituary

Died: - In North Powder, December 4, 1894, June A. Pearson, wife of Harrison Pearson, aged 21 years and six months.

The deceased was born in Lewis county, Missouri, June 23, 1878. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Martin of North Powder.

Death with pitiless hand has again robbed us of a loving wife, dutiful mother, affectionate daughter, and a cheerful friend. She leaves a beautiful babe seven months old.

The remains were interred in the North Powder cemetery Thursday at 2 o'clock.

It is with a deep sense of sympathy with the distressed relatives that the community learns of its recent affliction and tenders them such condolences as assures them of the respect in which their dear one was held:
Longfellow said:
"Let us be patient; these severe afflictions
Not from the ground arises,
But off times celestial benediction
Assume this dark disguise."
