Summerville - 1912

Below is a Birds Eye View of Summerville, Oregon. Summerville was the farming community where William S. Glenn, established the family farm in 1862. The Glenn's migrated from Iowa in that year. Originally the Glenn farm contained fourteen hundred acres plus. The land was granted to Glenn under the Homestead act.

The picture dates to approximately 1912. It was a prosperous village. Several fires in the 1920's destroyed most of the buildings seen in the picture. Summerville never recovered. The business section was not rebuilt. The road in the picture leads to the Glenn farm, located on Dry Creek Road, and to Imbler.
