Donald N. Turner, aged 11, died at a Baker hospital Monday, following an operation for appendicitis, last week. Donald was a pupil of Wolf Creek school, and had enrolled for this term, but had attended only one day, when he was stricken with illness. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. M.L Turner and a brother and sister.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church, and burial was in the North Powder cemetery. Rev. Clower conducted the services.

        Mrs. Mark A. Turner of this city died at the Protestant hospital in Baker yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from illness following the birth of a daughter January 23, 1931.  Her condition, it is said, was not considered serious until last Sunday when Dr. Blakely of Baker was called.  On Monday an ambulance took the patient to Baker and in the absence of Dr. Blakely, Dr. Barlett was called.

        Mrs. Turner’s demise not only leaves the infant daughter motherless, but three other children as well, the oldest of which, a boy, is eleven.  Her husband, father, William Newman, and brothers and sisters, survive her, also.

        The body is at the funeral parlors of West and company, Baker and the funeral services will be conducted from the local church next Sunday afternoon, and burial will be made in the local cemetery, beside the graves of children who preceded their mother in death.

        Lizzie Clair Newman-Turner was born September 9, 1897 at Park City, Utah, and died February 5, 1931.  She was 33 years, four months, 27 days of age.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She moved with her parents to Union and in 1913 moved to North Powder where she spent the rest of her life.  She was given in marriage at LaGrande to Mark A.Turner February 17, 1915, and to this union was born seven children, three of whom preceded their mother in death.

        She is survived by her husband, Mark Turner; four children, Oris, Arneta, Loretta, and an infant daughter; her father, William Newman; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Mitchell of Baker; Mrs. Cecil Pierce of Centralia, Wash., and Miss Annie Newman of this city; two brothers, Parley Newman of Union, and James Newman of this city.

        Funeral services were held Sunday, February 8, at the M.E. Church and interment was made in the North Powder cemetery.
