Botts Family Obituaries
According to Julie these were found in her husband's grandmother's stuff. Neva Botts being the grandmother. I find that most fascinating and thank her for donated to the site.
Bernard L. Botts
Bernard L. Botts a retired farmer and a native of Wallowa County passed away at his home in Lewiston, Orchards Sunday Nov. 6, 1955 at 2:10 p.m. a victim of heart ailment. Son of Bernard B. and Eliza Botts, he was born January 17, 1890 in Flora where he lived until moving to Lewiston in 1951. On June 22, 1917 he was married in Enterprise to Miss Neva Garrett who survives him.Besides his wife he is survived by three sons Bradford, Ashland Oregon, Brady, Enterprise and Delmer, Callahan Calif. ; four brothers Otho, Seattle and Fred and George, Flora; Three sisters , Mrs. Eva Fleet, La Grande, Mrs Ida Hill, Longview Wash, and Mrs. Jessie Shumate, Olympia Wash; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 p.m. from the Brower-Wann Funeral chapel.
Mrs Blanche Botts
Mrs. Blanche Botts of Flora passed away June 20 at Pendleton. Edna Blanche, daughter of Andrew and Francis Forbes was born October 3, 1899 at Flora, and passed away June 20 after many years of illness.
On February 14, 1919 she was united in marriage to Earl Botts, and they continued to make their home at Flora. She is survived by her faithful husband, and two sons, Orville A., who is in the army, stationed at Orlando, Florida, Airbase, and Melvin F. at home, and by her father Andy Forbes of Flora. Three sisters also survive, Mrs. Esther Lampkins of Wallowa, Oregon, Mrs Beulah Berner and Mrs. Myrtle Wulff both of Flora. Her mother preceeded her in death 6 years ago. She was on a cheerful disposition and bore the many long years of suffering bravely, and her shuband did everything possible for her comfort and happiness.
The funeral services were conducted at Flora by Rev. Ruth Green and burial was in the Flora cemetery.
Mrs. Eliza A. Botts
Mrs Eliza A. Botts pioneer resident of the county and of the Flora District,
died Thursday Nov 24 1938 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Eva Fleet, where she
had made her home for 15 years. Her funeral was held at the Flora Methodist
church Saturday afternoon and burial was in Flora cemetery. The pallbearers
were six grandsons; Dwain Fleet, Twain Conley, Ivan, Bradford, Gerald and
Orville Botts.
Eliza A Powell was born in Calhooun county , Georgia. July 19, 1853, and passed away at the age of 85 years four months and five days. She was married to Bernard Botts in Missouri Oct 30 1875. He passed away Oct 16, 1915. In 1884 they drove a mule team across the plains. They came into the then wilderness of the Wallowa county being one of the pioneers of the north end. Eight children survive, thirteen having been born to the union. The survivors are Earl, Bernard, Fred, George, And Mrs. Eva Fleet all of Flora; Otho Botts of Seattle, Wash, Mrs. Ida McCallister of Longview Wash; Mrs. Jessie Shumate of Olympia , Wash. While Susie Conley, Maggie Locke, Anna Wright, Lulu and Clarence Botts died some years ago. Also 26 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren survive.
Grandma had been ill for the last year or so. She was a member of the Christian church since early childhood and was a woman of much strength and Character, Who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. All eight children were at the funeral except Otho of Seattle. Ida of Longview and Jessie of Olympia, and also Mrs. Viona Berland of Stevenson, Wash. a grand daughter who was adopted to the family at the young age of 18 months old after the death of her mother (Anna Wright) were present.
Neva May Botts
Mrs. Neva May Botts 66, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital after
suffering a heart attack outside the
Lewiston Eagles Hall at 1304 Main St. She had just emerged from the lodge hall
with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bull
when she slumped to the sidewalk. She was rushed to the hospital, where a doctor
and Wilfred J Duclos, Nez
Prece County coroner pronounced her dead at 1:37 A.M. . The doctor said she had
suffered a coronary occlusion
and was dead when she hit the sidewalk. The Bulls with whom she had attended the
club said she had danced
frequently during the evening. She was born Neva May Garrett Jan 24, 1897 at
Flora Ore and had lived most of
here life there. On June 22, 1917 she Married Bernard Botts at Enterprise. Botts
a farmer retired in 1950 and the
couple moved to Lewiston. He died Nov 6, 1955 . Since then she lived quietly in
her home. She is survived by
three sons Delmar, Etna Calif. Brady of Enterprise, and Bradford , Ashland, Ore.
a brother Richard Garrett,
Medfornd Oregon and a sister Velma Osborne , LaGrande.
