Ella Lindley
Laid to Rest

Mrs. Ella May Lindley, of Flora and Enterprise, passed away Sunday morning, March 29, 1959 in La Grande, at the home of her son, Ralph Lindley. She had been in failing health for about three months.

She was the daughter of William and Eliza Davis and was born in Minnesota on January 4, 1879. On October 16, 1899 she was married at Wallula, Wash., to George F. Lindley who passed away October 14, 1943. Following their marriage they came to Wallowa county to homestead land near Flora. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Wallula.

Survivors include two daughters and one son, Mrs. William (Agnes) Bork of Walla Walla, Mrs. Amos (Stella) Evans, of Enterprise, and Ralph Lindley of La Grande. There are also nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Memorial services were conducted yesterday (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. by the Bollman Funeral Home at the Christian Church with Rev. Al Boschee officiating. Mrs. Max Gorsline was organist and Mrs. G. Brown sang "Under His Wings" and "It is Well With My Soul."

Casket bearers were: Guy, Cecil and Hilbert Murrill, Jack Sturm, Elmo Curry and Glenn Sanday, and interment was in the Flora cemetery.

RALPH F. LINDLEY

Ralph Francis Lindley, 74, of La Grande, died August 13, 1982, at St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla.

He was born in Flora on March 6, 1908, the son of George F. and Ella (Davis) Lindley; and he married Bernice E. Conrad on Sept. 11, 1933 in Enterprise.

Ralph Lindley was the postmaster of Flora was the postmaster of Flora from 1935 to 1948, then was a custodian for Eastern Oregon State College in La Grande until retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Grande Ronde Valley Coin Club.

He is survived by his wife Bernice of La Grande; daughters Ms. Les (Nita) Rogers of Imbler, Mrs. Joe (Zana) Shuman of Flora and Mrs. Thad (Lila) Killingbeck of Boardman; sisters Mrs. William (Agnes) Bork of Walla Walla and Mrs. Amos (Stella) Evans of Enterprise; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at the Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel in La Grande Aug. 16 with the Rev. Jack hart officiating. Concluding services were in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
