Mrs. Emma Samples
Mrs. Emma Samples, wife of John Samples, passed away wednesday, June 23rd. Mrs. Samples was 48 years of age and came to Enterprise with her husband and family last fall to take charge of the City Hotel. She suffered an attack of pneumonia three weeks ago and the best of medical skill was not able to bring her back to health. The deceased leaves a husband and five children. The remains were interred in the Enterprise cemetery on Thursday, June 24th, 1920.

Dies At Hillsboro
Irene Joan Samples, 43, of 224 A St., Vernonia, Oregon, passed away at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro Friday, August 29, from a heart attack. Funeral services were held September 1 at the Evangelical Church in Vernonia with interment in the Vernonia Memorial Cemetery.
Irene Joan Samples was born in Enterprise, Oregon on March 5, 1932 to Frank L. Otto and Mildred Zollman Otto. She was reared in Joseph, Oregon and attended both grade and high school there. She lived in Joseph until 1970 when she moved to Vernonia. While living in Vernonia she had been employed as a bookkeeper with West Oregon Electric Co-op.
Joan is survived by her children, Daniel Samples of Joseph and Angelee Samples of Vernonia; her parents, Mildred N. McLean of Wallowa and Frank L. Otto of Joseph; one brother, Mike Otto of Roseburg, Ore.; and one sister, Mrs. William (Sandra J.) Hunter of Vernonia.
