Mrs. P.O. (Anna Boone) SHIRLEY

O. D. Shirley Passes Away

Mr. Shirley died at Hot Lake on January 2nd after an operation the latter part of November. He was thirty-three years old and he had lived in Wallowa county since 1910. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father.

The deceased was a member of the local lodge, Knights of Pythias, and the lodge had charge of the funeral services last Friday.

The services were held at the Federated church and the sermon preached by Rev. Hughes. Interment was made in the Enterprise cemtery.

Mrs. P.O. Shirley

The Enterprise community was shocked by the sudden death of Mrs. P.O. Sherley (sic), yesterday, Feb. 11th at their ranch near Enterprise. Full obituary next week.

Anna Boone was born in Polk County, Oregon in 1860. She was united in marriage to Perry Sherley (sic) at Moscow, Idaho in 1882. They lived near Spokane for seven or eight years when they moved to the Williamette Valley where they resided until they came to Enterprise 10 years ago. Besides the husband three children remain to mourn the loss of a faithful mother. They are Mrs. Anna Lillian Colby, of Salem, Mrs. LB. Tuttler, of Elgin and Chester Shirley who resided on the ranch east of this city. One son Dee Shirley preceeded her in death two years ago.

Mrs. Shirley resided in Enterprise but at the time of her death was visiting at her sons home. A light attack of flu left her in a weakened condition so she succumbed to heart failure on the eleventh. She had been a member of the Christian church for many years. Open air services were held at the grave in the Enterprise cemetery, Friday at 2 p.m. conducted by the K.P. J.A. Burleigh gave a brief address.
