James W. Miller, son of Malcolm and Gennette Miller, was born 17 Aug. 1833 in Bridgeport, Nova Scotia. He married Rosa Ann (Brenner) Baker, daughter of Peter Brenner. He appears in the 1860 census living with his parents. He appears in the 1880 census with his wife, Rosa Ann, and two stepchildren: Mary Jane and Lee Baker; and Miller children: Hannah E., Malcolm B., James William, and Katie Isabel.

(History of the Willamette Valley states that James W. and Rosa had children: Mary J., Lee, Henrietta, Malcolm B., James W., Katy B., and Rose L.)

James W. Miller (b. ca. 1834) is enumerated with Louisa A. and children: Malcolm B., J. Wm., Katie B., R. Lena, and Nona in the 1905 Shelburn census.

James W. and Rosa Miller appear in the 1910 Shelburn census with children: Malcom B., Lena R., and Nona.
