Lebanon is the "City that Friendliness Built," but we are also home to the World's Largest Strawberry Shortcake, which is served yearly at the annual Strawberry Festival. The festival has been held every year since 1909 and is celebrated the first week in June.Lebanon is located along the Santiam River in western Oregon near the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Linn County.

Lebanon Genealogical Society Meetings and Other News:
Upcoming 2009 meetings:
Betty Jean Fritts is putting together a trip to Scio for July 10 (the 3rd is not a good day!). We will be visiting the Scio Museum and the Library. You remember that its librarian, Lavonne Murray, has given us several talks on genealogy ‘sleuthing’? Betty Jean or Lavonne will talk about their morning meetings and genealogy society. We will decide at our June meeting whether we want to have a sack lunch, potluck or go to the little restaurant in Scio. Jerry Duncan, of the Scio Museum, is opening it for us, so it sounds like they would like some visitors. More information will be available at the meeting and on the July postcard: such as where and when to meet for carpooling, etc.
***Is there anyone who would like to make a plan for August—preferably one with air conditioning? One of the ideas that was given before was Sweet Home’s East Linn Museum and the genealogy’s Mealey Library. A lunch could be at Sankey Park. Also, several had wanted to go to Eugene’s Family History Center.
Linn County’s Genealogy Society will have Ken Long, from LBCC speaking on
“The ABCs of Video Conversion.” If you have an old family video or film that you would like to convert to a digital format, this is a program for you. He will talk June 6th, 1:00 p.m. at the new Albany Library, 2450 14th Ave., Albany 97322 in the meeting room.
40th Annual Southern California Genealogy Jamboree
