MR. MOORE
U.S. Army veteran
JEFFERSON - John Ludwell Moore Jr., 81, died Thursday, June 8, 2000,
at Athens Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Moore was born November 21, 1918, in Hall County. He was a son
of the late John Ludwell Sr. and Nettie Smith Moore.
Mr. Moore was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War
II, and was a school bus driver, with 14 years of service. He was
also a retired farmer and a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Jefferson.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a grandson, Rodney Duran.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 10, in the chapel of Evans
Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Fred Wilson and Dr. Gerald
Mitton officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens,
Commerce. Denver Moore, Wesley Moore, Thomas Moore, Andy Tonge, Eric
Skelton, Wade Skelton and Dan Skelton served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Johnson Moore; one son, Johnny
Moore, Gainesville; two daughters, Betty Tonge and Suzanne Skelton,
both of Jefferson; two sisters, Annie Bell Shelnut, Grayson, and
Virginia White, Augusta, S.C.; six grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
