Marjorie N. Ballew
Mrs. Marjorie Newman Ballew, 74, of Talmo, died Wednesday, January
29, 2003, at Crawford Long Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born in Polk County, Tenn., on August 14, 1928, Mrs. Ballew was a
daughter of the late James and Celia Patterson Newman.
She was a house parent with the United Methodist Church Children’s
Home and was a member of Talmo Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1, in the
chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson. Burial was in the Talmo
Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Ballew, Talmo, and Diane
Moody, Jackson; one son, Robert Ballew, Jackson; one sister, Lousie
Mathis, Blueridge; two brothers, J.L. Newman, Michigan, and James
Newman, Griffin; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Evans Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
